I recently enjoyed a weekend of calligraphy and lettering during a 2 day workshop with Maria Montes and Carla Hackett.

The Saturday was all about calligraphy taught by Maria, and the Sunday was brush lettering with Carla.

My lettering has been on the side lines lately, even though I love it. I was in need of some me time, and a few days out of the house (away from my toddler!) lettering sounded like a perfect excuse.

And it was. It was meditative, quiet, relaxing and a wonderful weekend.

I’ve brush lettered before, but hadn’t used a calligraphy pen. It’s hard!
Learning this new skill was something I’ve been intrigued about for a while now, and Maria was very patient.
