While I was on the start of my hand lettering journey, I created a piece called ‘a cup of tea is like a hug’.
Years on, and it’s all over the internet, with people actually selling it on products as if that is ok. Like, what the actual fuck?
I’m not angry, but I have been in the past. It just keeps going. I have complained and emailed and some people have taken some down, but there’s no end to it. I know there’s not really much I can do about it. Except own it, and maybe see it as a compliment.
I don’t even particularly like the lettering – it definitely goes to show how far I have come – and what’s amazing is people have done their own versions too.
To give you some insight, this is my artwork that I posted back in 2012. Click here to see the blog post which thankfully shows up in a google search with ‘a cup of tea is like a hug’
Some examples that I am dumbfounded about are below. I have kept the links in the screenshots:
What makes these people think that this is ok?
